What a fun way to help us all appreciate different styles of composors and fantastic classical music!! I didn't get all of my choices up in the top 50, but enjoyed most of the ones that were. I love thunderous orchesteral music and obviously Wagner didn't make it. Oh well, lets do it again someday soon.

I told you nothing could beat the 9th, but I was wrong about the 1812 Overture.

Barber's Adagio deserves to be up there and also got a boost from its alphabetical position in the list of choices.

I can't believe Ride of the Valkyries didn't even make the favorites list. No Wagner did.

Jean Guillou plays the T&F in D minor at warp speed!

Sibelius should get special recognition for getting on the list with the fewest notes (Findlandia)

Thanks for coming up with such a fun way to her the world's greatest music. I chose pieces I'd stop my car to listen -- Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallus comes to mind, or have heard in live performances -- The Organ Symphony at Benaroya Hall, The Four Seasons in Venice and Mozart Eine Kleine Nacht Musik at The Madeline in Paris. Please do it again with the "losers".

Loved it loved it loved it Said everyone in our house as all our children were home for the week. They laughed though as we waited for the Wagner. How could anyone not have voted for the Valkyries They are a super hero theme song at our house.
Thank Robin and all at NWPR for such a great way to involve us in our radio listening.

This was such a wonderful idea! I knew that the 9th would be first, my wife (who doesn't really listen to classical music) guessed that it would be the first.

I really enjoyed this! Keep up the good work!

Are the also rans in order of voting or just listed any old way? Or....?? Did I just miss Vocalise?

Thank you Robin Rilette, for such an enjoyable way to experience "classic" classical music.

Just a curiosity, but in the "All the Rest" list, Purcell's Voluntary was in fact written around 1700 by a British composer named Jeremiah Clarke as the Prince of Denmark's March.

Thanks for all of your comments about the "50 Favorites!" The list of the pieces that did not make it onto the "50 Favorites" is alphabetically by groups so you might have to do a bit of searching to find what you're looking for. "The Ride of the Valkyries" and "Vocalise" are both on there but it takes a bit of scrolling to find them. When I get a chance I'm going to try to put that list into an Excell document and sort it alphabetically by composer.

Does anyone in the Pacific Northwest listen to Arvo Part? We gathered at a neighbors house recently to watch a documentry on him so I know there are a few out there. Thank you Robin for all your work on the 50 favorites project. It was and continues to be a learning oportunity.

I did not get a chance to submit my favorite, however, it looks like I did not need to. My choice would be Beethoven's 9th Symphony.
