Thanks Daddy!

Daddy, Cesar Millan's famous pit bull ambassador died on February 19th. Daddy was something really special. He was the epitome of the calm, assertive energy that is the hallmark of Cesar's dog physchology methods.

If you're a regular reader of this blog you will already know that I am a huge fan of Cesar Millan. I'm also a huge fan of Daddy. Every time he came on "The Dog Whisperer" to help an unstable dog I had the same reaction. I said out loud, "Daddy," in that voice you save for really special dogs. I'm not kidding. Every time I saw him on television I had the same reaction. This feeling of peace and joy came over me. This dog had, and still has, some serious mojo!

This morning I was reading some of the e-mail messages about Daddy on Cesar's website and had to stop. I became seriously choked up, which is a challenging state of being when you have a live radio show to present. Here is a link to some of the tributes to Daddy.

Dreams do come true!

Here's a quick story about what you didn't hear in the interview. I think you'll get a kick out of it! When I personally thanked Cesar and he responded by thanking me in turn, my response went something like this...."oh...uh...ah....uh huh....oh...manical laughter....you're welcome." Yes, I AM a radio professional!

Confession time: I have a slight....just a slight obsession with Cesar Millan the "Dog Whisperer." Is it a coincidence that his birthday, August 27th is the same date as that of my dog, Miles? I think not.



All kidding aside I truly do admire this man and his family for what they are doing for the canines of the world. I love dogs. They have been and still are a very important part of my life. I've learned so much from reading Cesar's book and watching "The Dog Whisperer" on dvd.

Miles developed a fear of loud noises, particularly fireworks and thunderstorms, when he was four years old and started to go blind from PRA. I tried a lot of different approaches and ended by medicating him during these kinds of situations. Well, after seeing areas in which I was not providing Miles with leadership and correcting those areas I have changed. As a result, Miles came through the July 4th weekend and two subsequent, major thunderstorms with flying colors!

Miles and Cesar have taught me to be a more patient person (at least with others!), a less selfish person and someone who is learning how to use more calm, assertive energy in everyday life.

mastering the walk.
